This will motivate me.

I have this big project I'm working on for our music room. I basically got sick of all Tim's musical instruments everywhere and decided to seek out a funky credenza/side table of some sort to put them in. I found this for $25.00 on craigslist at this "estate shop" near my work. (It was really just an odd dumping ground for stuff, with a few cool things.)

I was a foot longer than they said it was and hardly fit in the back of the Forester. Tim and I risked our lives bringing it home, as we had to push our seats all the way up to the dash. Since I'm even shorter than Tim, I got to drive home like this. People laughed at us on the freeway. All the way home my chair would move a little back and forth because it wasn't actually locked in to the tracks. Exciting! Hopefully, in the end, it will be worth it.

I started working on it a few weeks ago and I'm going very slowly. I came up with this plan to kinda copy one of my favorite shops in Andersonville in Chicago called The White Attic. It's pretty much my dream to own a shop like this one. Of course, it would have to also involve coffee and cupcakes.

Here's the plan: I'm going to sand the frame all the way down to the raw wood. The door panels I will be painting green, "Granny smith" to be exact. I love, love, love the color I selected. I'm going to sand everything down, paint the doors and see how they look paired with the raw wood. Then, if it looks good, I will stain the raw wood a natural finish. Otherwise, I'll just paint the whole thing green. I'll replace the knobs with awesome knobs of some sort from Anthropologie. I hope my original plan looks good though because I've spent a hell-of-a-lot of time sanding and will be stripping the parts I could not get with the power sander with eco-friendly stuff. (OF COURSE it's eco-friendly. I live in Davis now and that's how we roll.)

This is the stage that I am at now. I've sanded the top and sides and the fronts of the doors that I can get with the power sander. I've started to sand by hand the parts of the doors with all the nooks and crannies. There's a lot of finish on these puppies and it's a pain in the ass...yet relaxing all at the same time.

I'm excited about getting all the shiny off and painting the primer on the doors.

So, my hope is by blogging about it, I will feel a little more pressure to get my ass moving. Make sure you ask me about how it's going so I can feel even more pressure to show you the finished product.

I have a bag problem.

I got this today at this antique store. I thought it would be good to carry my laptop stylishly, of course. I mean, it was only $15.00. I really don't need another bag. I brought it home and Tim said, "Ah! Another bag." It's a problem.

I put a tape by one bag photo so you could see the scale!

Tim suggested I photo all my bags. So, here they are. I wondered if "purses" counted. I don't really think so, but I included them in one photo anyway.

Seattle. Heart.

I went to Seattle for work. It was a quick trip! The first day I spent driving to the location where our team will be staying. Then, I got to go visit Teri , Matt, Farrow and, of course, Big Papi! I also ate at the place near the Market that Teri recommended: Matt's. Fabulous minus the annoying guy sitting next to me at the bar.

Good times! Next trip? Possibly Alabama, but this is TBD.
