Hawai'i

It was a good trip. I arrived Friday. First thing, first, I got shave ice from this hole in the wall place the Lonely Planet recommended about a mile from my hotel. Sat. and Sun I had off. I walked A LOT in Waikiki on the weekend. I went to a farmer's market, a arts and crafts fair, to Chinatown, and around the beach. What do I love about Waikiki and Hawaii, in general? Everything Asian! Heart. Sunday I went to Diamond Head, which was used as a bunker during the war. It was a steep climb to the top, but worth it. Monday - Wed. involved work. Monday I "volunteered" for MLK Day at a local library in Waikiki. Tuesday I flew to Kona and it also including a trip to the site where the NCCC team will work (that's where the butterfly picture and the picture of the tomato-looking things are from. It was technically a tomato, but tasted more like a mango or something). Wed. I drove to Hilo and stopped by Volcano National Park...the road was closed and I was tired so the time there ws very brief. Thursday I came home...with a lot of chocolate, honey, chips, coffee, and another place to stick a pin on the map. Here are some pictures.
